How do I figure out what size air filters I need?
Every home is unique! But your heating and cooling system/systems are relatively standard. Many homes have more than one air filter grate (the most common is two) and are they are often different sizes. The measurements of your filter size are usually printed on the cardboard edge of the filter currently in the air return of your home. The measurements are usually indicated in Width X Length X Height (for example 16 X 30 X 1). During your Membership enrollment, you can use our easy-to-find filter size drop down menus to tell us what sizes you need. Use our simple “What You Need To Get Started” guide to help you find the sizes in your home! Remember when choosing your air filter subscription plan, the quality of the air you and your family breathe every day is a direct result of how often you change your air filters.

Why should I recycle my home's air filters?
How Far Can We Go By Recycling Our Air Filters? There are approximately 300 million residential air filters thrown into local landfills EVERY YEAR, according to industry experts. If the average air filter is 18 X 20 X 1 and you laid those 300 million air filters end to end on the ground, they would stretch out approximately 100,000 miles! Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I change my air filters at home?
Short answer: at least every 90 days. You may want to consider changing your air filter more frequently if you have pets, respiratory problems, or use your HVAC system most of the year. Bottom line: the more your system runs and the more contaminants in the air the more you should change! You can tell by checking your air filter after a month or so and seeing how dirty it is. If it is really dirty, you may want to change it every month. With the Fresh Air Club, you can easily change your delivery frequency to meet your needs.
What happens if I don't change my air filters?
The longer any air filter is in your system the more "clogged" it gets, which reduces the amount of air that gets to your HVAC system, which makes your system work harder, raising your electricity bill. Under normal circumstances, our air filters will last up to 90 days and are not designed to go beyond that timeline. If you have pets or special medical needs you may want to consider replacing your air filters in your home every 60 or 30 days because the more often you replace your air filter, the cleaner and healthier your air!
Why does FAC only offer one type of air filter?

Our experience and research has taught us that residential homes need the highest filtration possible without being too restrictive.  Our MERV-11 air filters offer superior filtration effectiveness with the same load on your HVAC system as most MERV-7 air filters!  So you get cleaner air with less risk to your system!  We choose to only offer one level of air filter so we can streamline our business and keep our prices as low as possible for our Members.   

What kind of air filters do I get?

Each filter we deliver is a High Efficiency, Pleated Panel Merv-11 rated filter as recommended by the EPA for “removing small to large airborne particles”. MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value and is a standard for rating the effectiveness of an air filter in removing airborne particulate contaminants. The higher the number the smaller the particles the filter can capture. (the rating scale ranges from 1 to 16 and the particle size range addressed by the MERV scale is 3 to 10 microns.)    Because the Fresh Air Club uses pleated, High-Efficiency Merv-11 HVAC filters AND a scheduled delivery for you to replace your filters, you don’t have to sacrifice energy-efficiency for filter efficiency.  You get the right balance of air-flow efficiency, air filtration effectiveness, and indoor air quality.

Can I change my service plan or air filter sizes?
Yes.  Each plan is a One Year Contract that auto-renews at the end of each year. Within the term of your enrollment, you may change your Service Level or Plan at any time by contacting Customer Care and selecting a new plan.  Changes to a Plan will take 30 days to take effect and Plan charges up until the change goes into effect will apply.
Are your air filters electrostatic?
No. Electrostatic air filters have not been proven to be any more effective than non-electrostatic filters. There also have been some reports out stating that electrostatic air filters can be too restrictive, which can lead to an early repair or replacement of your HVAC system. Our pleated MERV-11 rated filters give you the right balance of filtration effectiveness without creating undue stress on your HVAC components.  
What if I move?

Each plan is a One Year Contract that auto-renews at the end of each year. Should you move within the term of your enrollment, you may change your address, sizes of filters, Service Level or Plan at any time by contacting our Customer Care Team. We will make every effort to make changes to your account prior to the next shipment.

How many filters can I order at one time?
The Fresh Air Club’s service plans are designed to accommodate four filters per home, if needed.  If you need more filters than that, you can contact us to develop a custom plan.  You may also be eligible for multi-filter discounts!
Why is it important to recycle residential air filters?
There are over 160 Million homes in the United States (US Census) and it is estimated that over 55% of homes have Central Air Conditioning Systems that require air filters (Department of Energy). That's a lot of homes that use “throw away” air filters (almost 90 million) so we want to make sure that they are properly disposed of and don’t end up in our landfills.  So we said – Let’s Recycle Them! Air filters are composed of cardboards, metals, and fiberglass materials that take hundreds of years to decompose in a landfill. You'll help preserve natural resources and keep discarded products out of landfills. 
How soon will I get my first filter?
Your first filter will be delivered within two weeks of your initial enrollment. After that, the frequency is based on the plan you select during your enrollment (For example, if you selected the Essential 90 Plan, your next filter would arrive 90 days after your initial filter was received)
What if I have custom, non-standard size home air filters?
We can help! Just email us at custom@freshairclub.com to get your no-obligation air filter subscription quote! We can produce any size air filter for your home and deliver it for free on your schedule!
Where do I get instructions on how to replace my filter and recycle the old one?

If you selected the recycling option: In each box that we ship to your home that contains your new air filter, you will receive instructions on how to replace the filter and package your old filter up for return shipping and recycling by The Fresh Air Club. The shipping instructions will have a shipping authorization Code (FedEx Return Material Authorization numbers) that can be used per package shipped from the location to which the original packaging was delivered. The shipping authorization code entitles the purchaser to free shipping of the package to the Fresh Air Club Recycling Center.

Do the shipping authorization code numbers and bar codes expire?

Shipping authorization code numbers and bar codes must be used within 90 days of receipt. However, products shipped back to the Fresh Air Club Recycling Center after 14 days will be subject to a $5 handling fee. Please see your terms of service for complete details.

I live in Hawaii or Alaska, can I participate?
Our air filter delivery and recycling program is available only within the 48 contiguous United States and the District of Columbia. Alaska and Hawaii residents are not eligible at this time due to the high cost of shipping to these destinations. If you would like us to explore the costs of providing one of our service plans to your home, please contact us and we will make EVERY effort to provide the lowest costs available.
