This isn’t the flimsy, flat-panel, “el-cheapo” air filters you see at the big box retailers! Those filters typically have a low Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value, or MERV, rating (1-4 rating typically) and are recommended for no more than 30 days of use.
All they do is protect the HVAC system from LARGE particles but do almost nothing to filter the smaller dust which can affect both the AC system AND your health.
Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value, or MERV for short, is a filter rating system devised by the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) to standardize and simplify air filter efficiency ratings for the public.
The higher the MERV rating, the higher the efficiency of the air filter. Simply stated, a MERV 11 filter will remove smaller particles from the air than a MERV 8 filter.
If allergies or asthma are your concern, experts recommend a MERV-11 air condition filter for best results. Heating and cooling system experts and manufacturers recommend our pleated, MERV-11 rated air filters because many residential HVAC systems do not have enough fan or motor capacity to accommodate high efficiency filters beyond that. (The higher in MERV rating the more restrictive the air flow, which could lead to other AC system problems.) That is why the air filters delivered are the air filters that are best for your home!

Each AC/ furnace filter we deliver is a High Efficiency, Pleated Panel MERV11 rated filter as recommended by the United States Environmental Protection Agency for “removing small to large airborne particles”. These are considered 90-day filters under “normal filtration conditions”. The EPA says “Filters with a MERV between 7 and 13 are likely to be nearly as effective as true HEPA filters at controlling most airborne indoor particles on the filter." Which means you get greater protection for less cost!
