FSA Resources
Please help me spend my extra flexible spending account money!
For Members with Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA's), your Fresh Air Club Air Filter Subscription Plan may be an eligible medical expense as part of your health benefits program. Because maintaining good indoor air quality is an important part of preventative health, physical recovery, and the number one defense for allergy and asthma patients, many doctors recommend the subscription service as a way to insure on-time air filter replacement. Plus, our premium air filters air filters provide the best way to remove irritating particles, allergen triggers, and airborne contaminates from the air you breathe through-out your entire home. What better way to spend the money you set aside for protecting your health than by using it to provide a service that will protect you and your family for the entire year?!?
Flexible Spending Accounts are “use-it-or-lose-it” plans. This means that amounts in the account at the end of the plan year cannot be carried over to the next year. Plus, your employer is not allowed to refund any part of the balance to you. With the Annual Pre-paid plan, Members using their FSA account receive a discount of 10% off their full annual subscription price. You will get the quality home air filters you need delivered, on schedule, right to your door to insure on-time air filter replacement.
About FSA Expenses
Eligible FSA expenses can include air filtration products to treat severe allergies, pulmonary sensitivities, recovery from surgery, asthma, and other health related symptoms related to poor indoor air quality. Most plans make it clear that you cannot use FSA dollars for dues or amounts paid to just to improve one's general health or to relieve physical or mental discomfort not related to a particular medical condition. Therefore, the cost of your subscription plan may require a letter of medical necessity from your health care provider in order to be eligible for reimbursement. The letter should include the diagnosis or symptoms for which you, your spouse or dependent are being treated, along with specific information on how the product or service is intended to alleviate symptoms or improve function. This letter is usually kept on file for one year from the date written by your health care provider. So, we have put together a sample "Letter of Medical Need" to help make filing for your reimbursement a no-hassle process for you and your healthcare provider. Check with your employee benefits department at work to learn more about the process for filing for your FSA reimbursement. It's your money - use it!
